After last week's haiatus, I wasn't surprised that we didn't win much. What did surprise me was the quality of our deck, and the quality of our play. If you're looking for an engaging experience, this draft should satisfy.
We started off open, and then sort of took a left turn into warriors, but not "The Warrior Deck", which is something I'd like to try at some point. What we end up with is a solid deck with a good curve, and very enjoyable to play.
A few things I noticed upon review were that we still talk a lot. As we've finally lost a round to the clock, I've decided to make a concerted effort to make faster play decisions. The flip side of that is that sometimes I run the client on autopilot, and that has left me unable to play a land or make an attack, simply because I "F2" through the option. I really need to clean up these areas of play. Something to work on.
All in all I think the deck was solid, and I'm looking forward to building the next one.
Thanks for watching, and we'll see you next time,
-Step.
Ok. Decided to stop by after you told me about this site. First off, I wanted to say good game. You two are good. And honestly, my deck shouldn't have beat your deck. If not for your mana issues, you'd have beat me easily. If you don't mind, I wanted to give a bit of a replay to explain my a few of my decisions.
ReplyDeleteGame 1: I'd have loved to sac the 0/3, but I got screwed on green sources. Then I blocked with it thinking your fetchland was only digging for green. Grabbing red and using Ride Down just took me by surprise. I pitched Heir of the wilds cause ruthless ripper was part of that 4 the soothsayer got me. And I figure since both are gonna die to the 3/5 zombie, I wanted to take off 2 life while I was at it.
Game 2: I put the bell strike on the Chief cause sultai charm only hits mono-colored critters.
Game 3: This is the part I'm a bit ashamed of. I knew my creatures were too small to race yours, and seeing your clock was super low, I decided to just go walls up and win off time. It worked, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a bit of a dirty move on my part.
All in all, good game against you guys. I hope y'all have success going forward. I can't wait to see your next video.
Okay, so this reply is about four months too late, but I wanted to say thanks for the info. Please don't feel bad about your win. It may not seem fair, but just like variance, time is part of the game in tournament play. Don't be ashamed to use every ounce of edge to win your games, just keep being a genuinely nice opponent, and keep playing =)
